Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) commissioned its strategic 400 kV transmission development program to improve the country’s transmission capability and reliability and support integration with the GCC interconnection grids. The program was in response to Bahrain’s increasing population and energy demand and included the construction of three main transmission substations in Riffa, Hidd and Umm Al Hassam. The project was executed in 3 packages: substations switchgear and civil works package, transformer and reactor work package and cables and accessories package.
